Duo Contra

It's amazing what talent there is in the Dallas indie scene right up under our noses. It's seemingly oozing from every hole in the wall and dive bar and coffee shop around. On this particular night out at the Crown and Harp, I happened to stumble upon Duo Contra. With Gabriel Jordan on the keys and vocals, Lukas Bartke on guitar, and Gareth Mason on drums, they lulled our heads into nods and our minds into the tropics with their with their samba rock vibes. Majority of the songs played were from their EP An Ode to the Sun which you can stream below or in the link here. Now if you're anything like me, then you'd probably say "what is samba rock?", then realize shortly after that you've appreciated this music but never put a name to it. When you hear Duo Contra, you instantly know what the sound and feel is.

"Duo Contra can easily be your bands' favorite band; effortlessly tracking what would be sand, sunshine, and palm trees."

When the first notes hit my ears, I instantly knew what I was getting myself into and felt all that was missing was a pina colada (with the umbrella of course) and a floral shirt; except I was in the middle of Dallas nightlife so I took my Captain and Coke and continued to be swooned with the rest of the crowd.  Duo Contra can easily be your bands' favorite band; effortlessly tracking what would be sand, sunshine, and palm trees. Gabriel effortlessly soars to the top of his register with the vibrato of a classic raggae artist while Lukas and Gareth  They provide contrast between tracks and inb I advise  strongly advise getting a copy if you're not hip to their music yet because they have another EP entitled Pt. 001
